The Business Law and Computer Security certificate focuses on developing an essential understanding of the issues at intersection between information security management and legal/regulatory considerations. Firms have legal and regulatory obligations that impact liability for network insecurity; requirements for security, control, and privacy; computer evidence, authentication, and signatures; electronic contract formation; and information sharing in the context of homeland security. The candidate must demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the laws and regulations highlighted in the course as well as their primary implications for information security management. The candidate must also demonstrate the capability of applying this knowledge to the process of crafting an organizational policy related to information security and the law.
