Update for March 2006 and beyond.
Originally, all GIAC exams had to be taken from the course material. However in response to numerous requests that we require students to do more than memorize, we have started adding scenario-based and other types of questions that do not tie to a particular page in a course book. These questions are based on course material, but may be drawn from a series of pages instead of a single page. These questions will be monitored closely for their performance and added slowly.
The primary responsibility for the quality of the questionnaire bank falls on the shoulders of the director of the GIAC certification, Jeff Frisk. Deputy directors and technical directors and TD candidates perform the tasks needed to maintain the exam bank.
