All GIAC Platinum series certifications have a lab component that tests true hands-on skills. That's the reason they are the most respected in the industry. All GIAC platinum series certifications are be administered in two parts. Part 1 is a multiple choice section that is administered through a proctored test facility just like our current regular exams. The multiple choice section is administered in advance of the hands-on labs. Part 2 is a 2-day long hands-on lab. The next lab offering for the GSE and GSE-Malware is tentatively schedules for next fall at SANS Network Security 2009 in Las Vegas, NV.
Registering for any Platinum GSE variant is a two part process. The multiple choice section of the exam costs $399 and may be taken after the application approval process. After passing the multiple choice section, you will earn the ability to register to the hands-on portion, which costs $1,099. Stay tuned for further details or email gse@giac.org with questions!
