ProctorU Technical Requirements

ProctorU Technical Requirements

Computer Set-Up & Compatibility

The computer settings and configuration needed to enable remote proctoring of a GIAC exam may not match your regular security posture. These requirements are necessary to ensure the integrity of the exam is upheld throughout the remote proctoring process. Any changes or adjustments you may need to make to comply with the technical requirements are temporary and only suggested to complete your remote proctored exam.

We strongly recommend using a computer that:

  • Has a clean hard drive with minimal installation
  • Is NOT a work computer -- Corporate security stacks & VPNs can be problematic
  • Is free of commercial applications, VMs, and the other incompatible software listed below
  • Is using an ethernet internet connection on exam day

Using a computer with a simple, unaltered configuration will improve the likelihood of successful exam completion with ProctorU. In some cases, candidates may need to borrow a suitable computer, partition their hard drive, or secure a new basic machine to mitigate risk and complete their exam.

Using an non compliant computer that does not pass ProctorU's in-depth security checks on exam day may prohibit you from completing your exam and require that you reschedule.
