What is the content of the exam?
The GLIR Certification is based on the objectives taught in the SANS FOR577 training course.
What is the structure of the exam?
The GLIR is a 3-hour exam comprised of multiple choice and CyberLive questions that must be completed in a proctored environment. All GIAC test-taking policies apply, including the Open Book Policy.
What preparation materials are provided?
GIAC will provide two practice tests that you may attempt at your discretion. Chrome is recommended for best experience; Firefox has performance issues when un-proctored.
Can I obtain updated courseware, labs, and/or OnDemand access?
Yes, candidates accepted to beta will be sent a code allowing for purchase of current OnDemand access to FOR577 for $299.
Purchase of the OnDemand is optional and is not required for beta participation.
When can I take the exam?
Exam scheduling opens March 19, 2025. The options are to test in-person with Pearson VUE or remotely with ProctorU. Please review the GIAC scheduling guide for additional information. Appointments must be scheduled a minimum of 72 hours prior to desired test time.
How long do I have to complete the exam?
All GLIR beta exams must be completed by April 22, 2025. There will be no exceptions or extensions.
There is no cost to participate in the GLIR beta exam. However, failure to appear for a scheduled exam appointment, you may be charged $150 USD to compensate GIAC for the testing center fees & other associated costs.
What happens if I am unable to schedule and/or complete the exam within the beta period?
The exam will be removed from your account at the deadline. Please note that free retakes of this exam are not available for non-completion of the beta.
Can I share this invite with others?
Beta participation is invite-only and non-transferrable. If you are found to have shared this invite, all involved parties will be removed from the beta and will not be eligible for future betas.
When will I know my exam results?
Exam results will be delivered to all participants immediately following the public release of GLIR in mid-May 2025. You will not receive your exam results immediately following the exam. Upon completion, your account will show a 'Completed' or 'Passed' status for the beta exam; this does not indicate a pass/fail status.
We are unable to disclose exact scores or provide performance feedback for beta exams.
What happens if I pass the exam?
If you achieve a passing score, you will earn the GLIR certification, which will be valid for four years from the public release date mid-May 2025.
What happens if I fail the exam?
If you do not achieve a passing score, you will be offered a free GLIR certification attempt following the public release mid-May 2025. This retake attempt will not include practice tests.
Can I share my unused practice tests?
Practice tests are non-transferable. Any unused practice tests and/or beta exam attempts not used prior to April 22, 2025, will be deleted.
Am I allowed to discuss the content of the beta exam?
Any disclosure of any part of the beta test (including practice tests) are subject to disciplinary action by the GIAC Ethics Council.
