SNMP Alert 2002: What is it all about?

On February 12th, 2002, an advisory [1][2] was issued concerning the vulnerabilities of SNMP. But what is SNMP? Hasn't it been around for years and why should we be concerned about SNMP now? In this paper I will take your through a brief history of SNMP and provide you with some tools and information that can be used to test for SNMP vulnerabilities and increase security on your networking infrastructure.
