Renewal: Work Experience


Field Work Experience

Relevant work experience can demonstrate your application of a certification's objectives and ongoing competency in the Information Security field related to the certification(s) being renewed. This can include facilitating at-work training or project work.

  • A maximum of 12 CPEs per renewal can be used from this category.
    • You must be in a relevant position for at least 1 year to qualify for the 12 CPEs, OR
    • You can earn 1 CPE per hour of completed work training/special project work.
  • Unique aspects of work experience can be applied towards different renewals. For example:
    • A Penetration Testing Manager may use the management aspects of their job to earn 12 CPEs towards renewing their GSLC certification.
    • The technical pen-testing aspects of their job to earn 12 CPEs towards renewing their GWAPT certification.
  • The field work experience must be completed within the four-year period in which your certification is currently valid.
  • The CPEs earned from this category can be applied to 1 GIAC certification.

Required Supporting Documentation:

  • A Resume or link to your LinkedIn profile along with your professional biography.
  • Detailed write up of your job responsibilities.
  • Annual Performance Review documentation.
  • Progress/Status Report signed by Project Mgr.

If documentation is not provided at time of submission, it will be rejected. You may resubmit once you have the proper documentation.
